Kate Bosworth realizes her mistake, forces Josh Duhamel to turn the goddamn plane around (can you even do that?! seems dangerous), and hunts down Topher Grace just in time. However, on the plane, Josh Duhamel confesses that he stole those cheesy lines (that revealed ~deep knowledge of Kate Bosworth’s ~soul) from Topher Grace, who truly loves her. Kate Bosworth is suitably emotionally confused, but decides to go to LA anyway, because, understandably, she feels that Topher Grace has terrible timing. One wonders why he did not try this tactic sooner – say, before this contest, or at any point in the last twenty years of their acquaintance. Topher Grace, having failed spectacularly at thwarting this romance up to this point, makes a last-ditch effort to actually tell Kate Bosworth how he feels. Kate Bosworth is entirely swindled, especially after Josh Duhamel cribs some cheesy lines from Topher Grace, and agrees to travel back to Los Angeles with him. Kate Bosworth flies to LA and has a grand old time with Josh Duhamel, who a) is a bit of a fraud and b) is taken with her “goodness.” So taken, in fact, that he up and moves to West Virginia temporarily to partake of said goodness. Topher Grace, who is in love with her, is, needless to say, not psyched. Naturally, Kate Bosworth enters, and, surprise surprise, she wins. The lucky wholesome girl who wins will be flown to LA and wined and dined by Josh Duhamel himself.
In fact, his personal choices are so bad that his publicity team starts a contest to improve it. Kate Bosworth is certain that Josh Duhamel leads an incredibly virtuous personal life, which, obviously, is not the case. She and her other best friend, Ginnifer Goodwin, are huge fans of Hollywood leading man Josh Duhamel, while Topher Grace is appropriately judgey. Plot: Kate Bosworth is a small-town girl who works in a Piggly Wiggly, managed by her best friend Topher Grace.
